Nature of Organization
Archnet is a design studio technology services group within the College of Built Environments. Our small computer lab provides the CBE community with technology and design studio computing resources, such as Windows and Mac OS design studio workstations with a variety of design applications, scanners, printers, and multiple plotters. Archnet isn’t just our space and technology though, we are also a group dedicated to supporting our community with design expertise, software experience, friendship, and a calm, reassuring presence during stressful presentation times. CBE is a college made up of many majors, backgrounds, and identities, and we encourage all interested persons to apply.
Position Description
Working in Archnet provides our student employees some fantastic opportunities in a number of different areas. They are trained to perform basic maintenance on all of our printers and plotters as well as troubleshoot printing problems as they arise. Archnet isn’t just about providing printing support though! Our smaller, more intimate office space means you’ll have the opportunity to meet and get to know the diverse group of CBE students that stop by Archnet. Not only will you share your software expertise with the less experienced students we support, but you can also learn new tips or techniques when you see students using them in the lab!
Our student workers can also expect to partner with different groups around CBE to showcase their design expertise via our Graphic Design Project Service. This service might have you designing mockups of room remodels, CBE promotional materials and advertising, website graphics, or adapting documents to meet UW branding or accessibility guidelines. This will help you expand your contacts when your credited work will be seen and celebrated by the staff and/or faculty of other CBE departments and groups!
