Autumn 2022 Elective offering: ARCH 530 Integrated Building Systems

ARCH 530 is an elective open to graduate students in Architecture. Course discusses strategies for ordering separate and discreet building systems into integrated architectural schemes.
Focuses on systems that affect architectural expression and resolution in buildings including: structural, environmental control, materials, and assembly with an emphasis on sustainable building design.

Readings and student-led discussions will focus on the theory, practice, and process of building systems integration, understanding how systems can enhance architecture, and techniques for graphic communication and storytelling to key audiences. Visiting architects and collaborators will discuss integration case studies at a variety of scales, from single family dwellings to multi-block developments.
The class will visit local projects to experience and learn from integration up close.
