The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation promotes the advancement and perpetuation of humanistic inquiry and artistic creativity by encouraging excellence in scholarship and in the performing arts, and by supporting research libraries and other institutions dedicated to transmitting cultural heritage.

To that end, the foundation invites applications for its U.S. Venetian Research Program, which will provide travel grants to individual scholars in support of historical research on Venice and the former Venetian empire and/or for the study of contemporary Venetian society and culture. Scholars working in any discipline of the humanities and social sciences, including, but not limited to, archaeology, architecture, art, bibliography, economics, history, history of science, law, literature, music, political science, religion, and theater, are eligible to apply.

Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded for a full academic year and may be used for travel to and residence in Venice and the former Venetian empire; transportation within the Veneto; and specific research expenses.
