Recycling and Waste Management 2022 Seasonal Positions

Human Eco has been awarded a three year federal contract with the U.S Forest Service setting up recycling programs for wildfire incident response camps on the West Coast (including but not limited to WA, OR and CA). This job will be working within a team of energetic and motivated individuals to implement and monitor recycling operations for firefighters and incident command at wildland fire base/spike camps.

The goal of the recycling program is to achieve a minimum 30% diversion rate through collection, sorting, and hauling of recyclable materials. The team will be responsible for sorting out recyclables such as paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans from the waste stream and delivering those recyclables to local recycling centers. We also focus on education and training as they are integral to the program and engagement from firefighters increases our diversion rates.

Employees will be in direct quarters with firefighters learning and observing the logistics to fire camp management. Past employees have found this job to be a good fit when seeking a seasonal, on-call position that allows them the flexibility to take on other part time positions or travel whilst having the option to go to fires on their own accord. This position is also a tangible way to make a difference in the face of the ever-overwhelming climate crisis. We are all responsible for being a part of the solution!
