Seattle Street Sink program recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Seattle

The College of Built Environments-led “Seattle Street Sink” program was recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Seattle at the 71st Honor Awards for Washington Architecture.
The Seattle Street Sink program is a community-based network of handwashing stations designed in response to the lack of public hygiene infrastructure. The project was initiated by Real Change, a local advocacy group for people experiencing homelessness and was designed as a collaborative effort with Associate Professors and architects Elizabeth Golden and Rick Mohler, landscape architect Brice Maryman, MxM Landscape Architecture, Isabela Noriega, UW Landscape/Architecture dual major, and Lauren Corn, UW Landscape/Planning dual major. The project was one of 16 award winners, and was selected for an Honorable Mention Award by the jury from 103 submittals.
