Spring 2022 TA Position Opening: Energy & Environmental Systems Teaching Assistant


The Department of Architecture is hiring a TA for ARCH 431: Energy & Environmental Systems for Buildings. The TA will attend most lectures (4:30 – 5:20 Tue/Thu) and instruct two discussion sections per week (5:30 – 6:20 Tue/Thu) following lecture. The TA will attend a weekly meeting with the instructor to discuss the coming week’s discussion section, the learning objectives, subjects, assignment and grading rubric. The TA is expected to hold a weekly office hour and/or meet with students by appointment to discuss course assignments and subjects from the course lectures and readings. Each discussion section will have approximately 20 students for a total of approximately 40 students; students will work in teams of two on six assignments that the TA will be responsible for evaluating.

Required qualifications: excellent verbal communication skills, ability to explain course topics to diverse student groups, knowledge of climate responsive design principles, passive heating and cooling design, and an interest in building science, high performance buildings, and sustainable building design.
