In Spring Quarter, come to Italy to study food systems at the global and local level. This 10-week program is open to all majors but is of particular interest to students majoring in Medical Anthropology and Global Health, Nutritional Sciences, Food Systems, Environmental Sciences, and Public Health.
You will meet real people doing real things: farmers, chefs, cheesemakers, bakers, and wild food foragers who will provide hands-on learning with food. You will also meet food journalists, filmmakers, and historians, community garden activists, as well as participate in local organizations using food as a vehicle for social inclusion of immigrants and refugees, and meet NGO workers working at the global level for more sustainable food systems.
Professor Ann Anagnost has been offering this program with her local teaching partner Dafne Chanaz almost every year since 2009.
