Upcoming discussion sessions for students exploring Fulbright & other international fellowships

Spring is a good time for interested applicants to explore opportunities available through the Fulbright US Student ProgramLuce Scholars Program, and several other similar programs that provide funding for international research, graduate-level studies, creative arts projects, assistant English teaching, and engaging with communities abroad in a variety of ways.

Along with informational sessions specific to certain scholarships (see Global Fellowships Prep calendar), in early May, a series of casual discussion and Q&A sessions will be hosted for students/alumni to engage with scholarship advisers and each other, bounce ideas, ask questions, etc.:

  • “Choosing a country”: Monday, May 3, 4:30pm – Join this casual conversation and Q&A session to talk about what factors you might consider in choosing a country for your fellowship application.
  • “Pursuing Grad Study Abroad”: Wednesday, May 5, 5:00pm – Join this casual conversation and Q&A session to talk about grad study focused fellowships and what you might consider in finding & applying to a program.
  • “Research Grants”: Monday, May 10, 4:30pm – Join this casual conversation and Q&A session on international research funding applications (for students/alumni). We’ll share the basics of what should go in a proposal (for programs like the Fulbright US Student Program and others) and leave plenty of time for Q&A.
  • “All about Letters”: Tuesday, May 11, 4:30pm – Join this casual conversation and Q&A session to discuss the different types of letters you may need for your international fellowship applications: letters of affiliation, recommendation, and language references.

More sessions, information, and connections to UW scholarship/fellowship advisers are available on our Global Fellowships Prep website. Also, please feel free to reach out to Robin Chang, Director of the Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships & Awards for more information and questions.
