May 22: Care Not Incarceration

Image description:  On a faded purple background, large bold pink text reads “CARE NOT INCARCERATION!” and underneath in light blue “Teach-In to End Coercive Institutionalization in Washington.” In pink text, below it says “Saturday May 22nd 11:00 a.m.” In the bottom left corner is a drawing of a white and turquoise hospital with a red door and red cross on its front, serving as a backdrop for a silhouette of two fists held together with handcuffs.]
The ASUW Student Disability Commission, in partnership with No New Washington Prisons, would like to invite you to our upcoming event, “Care Not Incarceration: Teach-in to end Coercive Institutionalization in Washington”.

Join organizers with No New Washington Prisons and the Shut ‘em Down coalition to learn about the proposed Western State Hospital expansion project and the campaign happening right now to stop it. At this event, you will learn more about the connection between disability justice and abolition. Our hope is that you will see abolition as a practice and leave with clear and accessible avenues to plug into the campaign.
