CBE SEMINAR // DESIGNING FOR AUTHENTICITY: CULTURAL PLACEKEEPING IN SEATTLE

Seminar Description:
This interdisciplinary seminar will include lectures by faculty and external professionals on issues of cultural placekeeping and spatial justice working towards collective liberation and indigenous sovereignty. This course supports developing a lens for addressing colonialism, environmental justice issues, and centering community in practice.

Seminar students will have the opportunity to work with interdisciplinary teams from the College of Built Environments (CBE) who are enrolled in an associated studio based course. CBE enrolled studio team projects will work to help develop, refine, and communicate design and planning projects for the Duwamish Tribal Services. These projects are intended to understand tribal priorities and develop planning and design strategies focused on preserving and amplifying the living and vibrant culture of the Duwamish people.
