CBE INSPIRE FUND – Applications Open Now, Due February 1, 2023

The CBE Inspire Fund is designed to support research activities for which a relatively small amount of support can be transformative. The RFP is available on the Intranet page. There will be an office hours session January 8, 2023, 1-2pm in Gould 227 for application questions.

Charging Forward: reaching a zero-emission transit fleet with a public-private partnership project

UW researchers explore using public-private partnerships to convert bus bases for electric-powered vehicle charging.

Architecture for youth program

The UW Continuum College Youth & Teen Program has an Architecture course, to introduce high school students to Architecture. The course was designed to mirror a first year studio class.

February 5-7, 2024 – CAFÉ Climate and Health Conference

The NIH Climate Change and Health Initiative has awarded a three-year grant to Boston University School of Public Health and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to serve as the Research Coordinating Center (RCC) for their NIH-wide effort to reduce the health impacts of climate change. Referred to as the CAFÉ RCC, we aim to Convene, Accelerate, Foster, and Expand a global climate change and health community of practice (COP). To accelerate the translation of research into practical solutions, the CAFÉ RCC will engage a diverse array of researchers and other stakeholders across government agencies, non-governmental and community-based organizations, academia, industry, foundations, and potential funders.

January 15, 2024 – Submission deadline: Steinbrueck-Thonn Award for Pike Place Market Research

The Friends of the Market Board of Directors has committed to funding this program to a maximum of $4,000 this round. 

January 22, 2024, 8:00am EST / 5:00am PST – EM STARS application due

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) Success Through Academic and Research Scholarship (STARS) program provides opportunities for undergraduate students from Minority Serving Institutions pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and supports EM research and operations in: Advanced Manufacturing and other Mfg. Disciplines, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Deactivation & Decommissioning, Machine Learning, Robotics, Soil & Groundwater, and Tank Waste.
