SafeZone App
For a quicker response, please consider installing the SafeZone App.

The SafeZone app gives you direct access to the fastest possible safety assistance regardless of where you are! Inside the UW’s Seattle campus, the app provides you with immediate access to the UW Police when you need assistance. Outside of the UW’s Seattle campus, the app will connect you to the relevant local emergency services.

You can use SafeZone to:
  • Call for Assistance, if you have general, non-emergency questions about campus safety services.
  • Call for Medical issues, if you or someone near you needs urgent medical help.
  • Call for an Emergency, if you feel threatened, need urgent help or witness a crime in progress.
  • Set the Safety Timer to voluntarily share your location with UW Police for a virtual guardian service on the Seattle campus.
  • Check In to voluntarily share your location with the UW Police while you’re on the Seattle campus.
  • You can also use SafeZone to access safety information relevant to your time at the UW through the Safety Resources menu.

UW Alert is the official emergency notification tool for the University of Washington’s Crisis Communications Team. This team is tasked with getting the word out about any imminent danger or major disruption to the University. UW Alerts go out via SMS (text messages), email, and Twitter.
