Call for Undergraduate & Graduate Student Representatives for Department of Architecture SJEDI Committee

The Department of Architecture Social Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (SJEDI) Committee, is made up of faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The mission of the Committee is to guide the department in matters of social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion, to offer resources to students, staff and faculty around those issues, and to foster a supportive and inclusive environment in which all members of our community can thrive.

Student representation is vital for the department to move this justice, equity, diversity and inclusion agenda forward.

The department is looking to bring on 2 undergraduate and 2 graduate students to serve as representatives for the 2023-24 academic year. As part of the SJEDI Committee, students will have the opportunity to shape EDI work in the Department and be leaders working on behalf of students’ visions and concerns.

This opportunity is open to current students who will be enrolled through Summer 2024.

Minimum expected commitment is 3 quarters with 3 meetings per quarter: Winter 2024, Spring 2024, Summer 2024 (can attend meetings virtually)

To follow the College of Built Environment’s Diversity Council’s compensation for student service, our student representatives will be compensated $250 each quarter.

Interested students should submit a 1-2 paragraph statement of interest to this Form by 9am, Thursday, December 7.

We look forward to collaborating with students on this important work.
