Hold onto your hats: EarthLab’s summer internships are back in action, bringing with them a blend of new and unique opportunities.

This isn’t your average internship. It’s a chance for our students to amplify their impact on pressing environmental issues, crafting equitable solutions through interdisciplinary projects and community-engaged research. And guess what else? We’re casting the net wide — this opportunity is open to any currently enrolled undergraduate student from any UW college, school, or campus as of Spring Quarter 2024.

Originally introduced in 2022, our Summer Internship Program places students within an EarthLab member or partner organization for a dynamic 9-week experience. In the spirit of learning and growing together, we’ve developed a collaborative cohort-model where interns meet with their peers for weekly dialogues, which complements their access to an assigned staff, faculty, or research scientist mentor at their individual internship site. Interns will receive a stipend disbursed over the 9 week internship, plus a $180 total travel stipend per intern.

Mark your calendars for our three virtual information sessions on January 31, February 14 and February 27 (RSVP here)! Spread the word to any students who might be keen, and don’t worry if schedules clash; we’ll record and post one of these sessions on our website.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. PT on March 1, 2024, and we’ve made the process even easier this year! No cover letter, just a short answer question form and an uploaded resume PDF.
