CoMotion is proud to partner with the German Center for Research and Innovation and the German Research Foundation to bring the Falling Walls Lab summit to the University of Washington campus from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 16.

Do you have an innovative idea that can “break the wall” to solve a problem? Apply to share a 3-minute pitch for a chance to win a trip to Berlin to compete at the final. Flights and accommodations are included! Second prize is a one-month complementary membership to technology incubator at CoMotion Labs. Deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 1.

Students and early-career professionals from all disciplines are eligible. You must be 18 years or older when submitting your application, and you must meet at least one of the following formal requirements:

    • You are currently enrolled at the university

 

    • You are currently a postdoc

 

    • You received a bachelor’s degree no more than 10 years ago

 

    • You received a master’s degree no more than 7 years ago

 

    • You received a PhD no more than 5 years ago

 

*An MD (medical degree without a doctoral dissertation) is deemed equivalent to a master’s degree. A Dr. med. (medical degree with a doctoral dissertation) is deemed equivalent to a PhD. The global diversity of academic degrees is acknowledged.

The Falling Walls Foundation is inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989. The nonprofit promotes breakthrough thinking and builds a growing network of leaders from science, business, and the public sector to tackle great challenges and make groundbreaking ideas accessible to society. The summit takes place yearly in Berlin from November 7-10.
